The luxurious Finnish Haikko Spa in Provoo, near Helsinki, is offering ice cold spa treatments at 110º below zero. The super cold treatment, known as Cryotherapy, uses an old pain relieving method, which subjects the body to extreme cold, causing the skin’s surface temperature to drop to around 3ºC. The treatment, which can relieve health problems including insomnia, stress and skin conditions, works when the temperature receptors in the skin send messages to the brain which triggers it to boost the circulatory, endocrine, immune and central nervous systems, creating a physical rush and leaving you feeling revitalised with reduced muscle tension.
